Computers have created advances in almost every aspect of our lives. It is also true for dentistry. Most posterior crowns can be completed in one visit with our Cad Cam technology. There is no longer a need to take messy impressions of back teeth and send them to the lab, leaving you in a temporary crown for two weeks. Your teeth can be scanned or digitized, a custom crown designed right in front of you, milled in an adjacent room, and permanently cemented in about 30 minutes. This is not new technology. It has been available for about 8 years, but current computer speeds and software advances have made it a viable option the past couple years.
