![]() Dr Lowell Swartz (Doc) came to Ionia in 1991 to begin his dental career. He grew up in Saginaw Michigan then attended the University of Michigan studying Biochemistry as an undergraduate. He then went to the University of Detroit and graduated in 1991. Although that is where his formal education stopped, he has always prided himself in the hundreds of hours of continued dental education that allow him to perform a vast number of procedures in the many aspects of dentistry. Although dentistry is a passion, Lowell is most proud of his wife Judy and daughters Sarah and Sabrina. They have lived in Ionia many years and have integrated themselves into the community. Judy is an attorney in Ionia and the girls attend Saints Peter and Paul School. The family spends countless hours playing basketball, boating, and dancing. Dr. Swartz also dedicates his time to many dental organizations. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association where he has served as an area delegate many years. He?s a member of the West Michigan Dental Association and a past president of the Ionia/Montcalm Study Club. He has been published in the Journal of the Michigan Academy of General Dentistry and the Journal of the Michigan Dental Association. He has lectured to the students in the Heartland?s Institute Dental class and provided instruction in their dental clinic. Locally, he has a history of involvement with Ionia Rotary, Ionia Chamber of Commerce, and the Ionia JayCees. Although organizations take some of his time, Doc can often be seen boating, wakeboarding, and surfing with his family or jogging around town. He enjoys getting up and going to work (which he calls play), and nurturing the relationship he has with his staff and patients. He recognizes that whether people drive hours to see him, or just a couple minutes they deserve the best he and Ionia Family Dentistry can provide. |
