A dental implant is an artificial root that is placed into the jaw. After a few months the special coating allows it to directly integrate with the surrounding bone and become very strong. Once the integration has taken place a porcelain crown, or cap, is fabricated to place on top of the root.
Implants can also be used to stabilize existing dentures. Usually two to four implants are placed and attachments are placed into your denture to significantly increase tightness and eliminate embarrassing moments.
